We Do It Outside Too!
There are elements to your cycling that can only be improved outdoor and our Road Squad is a great opportunity to strengthen your bike handling skills, broaden group etiquette, increase your downhill confidence and improve your overall technique.
Technique, Skills and Endurance
Perfecting the combination of skills and bunch etiquette along with the art of pacing on the bike through understanding your power (whether or not you own a power meter) is the primary strength of our outdoor squad. Whether you're a racer or non-racer, learning bike craft is integral to becoming a better cyclist.
Are You a Cyclist?
As much as we advocate indoor training to improve your performance and speed on the bike, there are some things we just cannot perfect indoor. Correct etiquette in group riding is one of them and riding in a group that is guided by an accredited Coach with safety at the forefront is paramount to successful outings on the road. If you are a dedicated indoor TS user then applying what yo learn indoor to your outdoor riding is as much a part of the learning curve as the time you spend on the trainer.
Confidence on the downhill, cornering, getting caught in the rain during the ride, eating to sustain your energy over a long ride and pacing well are all aspects of squad training that we deliver each weekend when we set out as a group.
If you are on an indoor membership plan your outdoor squad is included in your membership so you pay no extra. Alternatively you can pay on a casual basis or join as a monthly member.
Are You a Triathlete?
Do you wonder why your bike leg is letting you down or perhaps you don't even realise it can improve beyond measure and subsequently impact your run. Do you finish the bike leg with heavy legs and go into your run wondering how you will ever finish?

Triathletes are effectively Time Triallers and understanding the art of pacing on the bike will make or break not only your bike leg on race day, but also your run. Training with a better understanding of how to execute your performance on the bike with dedicated Cycle Coaches will improve not one but two parts of your triathlon.

When It Rains
If bad weather is very obviously the call for the day we do not ride because bad things happen in the rain. Instead our indoor facility opens it doors and both Squad Members and Coached Clients have preferential booking for a 7:00am 90 minute indoor workout.
Safety on the Road is Everything
We run a tight and safe ride and ask that new riders, regardless of experience, take a position at the rear of the group with Coach Jo for the first 2-3 weeks. Please ensure you read and understand our Road Rule document prior to joining our group.
What We Deliver on the Road
Thursday Interval Training
Leg speed, pacing and all out efforts are what Thursday is about and for one solid hour we stretch our limits and legs through an understanding of the importance of high intensity intervals to improve our power output. You are not required to have a power meter on your bike though without one measure of effort is according to HR or Perceived Exertion.
Sunday Long Ride
Each week we ride a different route to keep the on-road adventure varied and motivating. Learning to ride correctly in a group situation is paramount to the collective safety of the group and applying sound etiquette results in an efficient and enjoyable group ride. Rides are 3 hour minimum and 5 hour maximum.
Coached Sessions
Both Thursday and Sunday sessions are run by an accredited cycling coach offering training information, encouragement, guidance and results as part of our service to you. Both sessions differ in their outcomes though both play a vital part in your overall progress.
Supportive Community
A positive environment within which to train, our outdoor community is made up of encouraging and supportive riders that welcome new riders into the group with great enthusiasm.
Session Variety
Repeating the same session each and every week is the fastest way to a tedious training regime. We mix up our session workouts and ride routes to keep the motivation ticking over.
Earlybird Indoor Booking
If squad is cancelled riders have first option along with our coached clients of booking a spot in the 'wet weather indoor sessions' on Saturdays and Sundays.
